Turbulence Data Processing Software
DISS 2.0 is a powerful and flexible function library for Malab. The library is specifically designed for processing turbulence microstructure data from microstructure instruments. DISS can be used on any computer (PC, Macs, UNIX workstations).The source code is open, which enables users to check the computations and extend the functionality as needed.
Functions:
- calculation of hydrographic parameters (salinity, density, adiabatic lapse rates, coefficients of thermal expansion and saline contraction, viscosity, depth) following UNESCO 1978 standards;
- turbulent parameters (dissipation rate, temperature and salinity gradients, buoyancy frequency, eddy viscosity, Cox number, Thorpe scale),
- graphical display of depth profiles, spectral analysis and automated spectral fitting of dissipation spectra, - and many more.
